Over the last 30 years, the Local Government Services department has evolved to meet the needs of the cities and counties of the Texas Panhandle. With a focus on being an extension of the staffs in local government, PRPC has developed many unique and useful programs.
The Local Government Services group assists the cities and counties of the Texas Panhandle in addressing community development and infrastructure needs. Results of these services can be seen with such community improvements as new water infrastructure, sewer lines, parks, and street paving. The Planning Commission plays a part in multiple phases of these projects for its members, from assisting with grant preparation, to administrative management of construction activities, construction contracts, and compilation, and submission of all required reporting upon project completion.
Local Government Services is routinely engaged in delivering services involving the various programs offered by the Texas Community Development Program, grant programs from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, census/demographic data dissemination, contractual management services; and other special projects. It is the goal of the Local Government Services Department to help the cities and counties of the Texas Panhandle to address both the large and small challenges that they may face.
