Funded through planning assistance from the Economic Development Administration, the Panhandle Economic Development District supports the formulation and implementation of economic development planning programs designed to create or retain permanent jobs and increase incomes, particularly for the unemployed and underemployed. Planning activities supported by this program are part of a permanent and continuous planning process at Panhandle Regional Planning Commission. Assistance is provided in any area pertaining to economic development, such as grant preparation; grant administration; project development; assistance to local businesses; regional leadership training and topical workshops. The Economic Development Planning District works closely with the region’s economic development corporations, chambers of commerce and The High Ground of Texas to identify economic development opportunities.
