Panhandle Regional Solid Waste Management Plan

The Panhandle’s Regional Solid Waste Plan was first written in 1992 in response to Senate Bill 1519, enacted during the 71st Session of the Texas Legislature, and it has been updated several times since then. The plan is maintained in accordance with the guidelines of Texas Health & Safety Code §363.064 and provides the general structure to implement the Panhandle’s solid waste program.

The overall purpose of this plan is help the region maintain a direction that will lead to an improved access to solid waste services in the Panhandle, to enhance waste reduction and recycling efforts in the region and help to ensure the continued protection of the Panhandle’s environmental resources.
